No. You never NEED to “LOAD” or do a “loading phase” on creatine. BUT…the whole point of taking creatine is to INCREASE your body’s own stores of creatine (as phosphocreatine aka PC) so that when your body is demanding more PC, it’s there!
Old studies (over 20 years ago) showed that by doing a loading phase (15-20g per day for 7 days), those PC stores did increase faster than by not loading, but 20+ years later, we now know that by simply taking 3-5g per day, phosphocreatine levels in our bodies do increase.
